Camilty wind farm – Scotland
Green Cat Renewables (GCR) were appointed as Owner’s Engineer (OE) and Principal Designer (PD) for the Camilty Wind Farm project. Prior to their appointment, GCR had supported Vantage RE in evaluating the acquisition of the project from the previous developer, providing due diligence and access route analysis through their Technical Advisory, Asset Management Services and Engineering teams.
GCR successfully discharged the project’s pre-commencement planning conditions and developed a comprehensive suite of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) documentation to support the procurement of enabling contractors, including the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA) and Balance of Plant (BoP) packages. Drawing documentation includes site layouts with 3D models, site specific bridge design, substation GAs and HV SLDs. GCR’s Electrical team performed reactive power capability assessments, P28 analysis, and Harmonic G5/5 studies to proactively establish hardware specifications and inform equipment selection at an early design stage.
Leveraging their multidisciplinary expertise, GCR also provided advisory support to Vantage RE during contract negotiations with the selected TSA and BoP contractors, having developed Employer’s Requirements documentation to support both BoP and TSA tender processes.
The five-turbine site is located within Camilty Plantation, south of Harburn, West Lothian. GCR provided strategic guidance to Vantage RE on the felling process to ensure its timely and efficient integration with BoP construction works.
The project includes a 15km grid connection route to Drumcross Grid Supply Point (GSP), for which GCR procured Green Cat Construction to carry out detailed surveys. These surveys have informed key decisions regarding the optimal grid alignment. As the project progresses into the construction phase, GCR will provide full-time site supervision through the role of Client’s Site Manager.
